Speed Limits
[ Speed 1 / Speed 2 ]

Alcohol injected, supercharged, forged GM LS6 (5.7 ltr. / 346 ci) with forced induction provided by an intercooled, oil injected, Paxton Novi 2000 Supercharger running at 18 psi (with a TiAL 50mm BOV using a 9 psi spring) on an 8-rib belt setup (using a 3.25” head unit pulley); fed by an AlkyControl dual nozzle methanol injection system, controlled by a PAC progressive regulator and 2 Bar GM MAP sensor. The methanol system pressurizes at 4psi of manifold air pressure and continues progressive injection through full boost. Secondary fuel supply is provided through a Bosch inline pump that is activated by a Hobbs Switch at 4psi of boost and delivered through an ECS Custom Fuel System.

Machine work was done by M2 Race Systems starting with a Sunnen CK-21 honed block along with a balanced, polished & pinned crankshaft. Engine was then assembled at East Coast Supercharging (ECS) using fully machined, weight matched, Manley pro series "I" beam 4340 steel forged rods; Manley 2618 high strength aluminum forged pistons (pin-fitted using heavy duty tool steel wristpins) and Total Seal 1.5MM plasma moly high performance rings. The build included ECS ported heads; ECS ported oil pump; Comp Cams "ECS Blower" Cam (proprietary grind: Duration ~ 220s / Lift ~ 580s); Comp Cams 921 dual valve springs with titanium retainers; King high performance silicone coated main bearings, Rollmaster double roller timing chain; ECS 8-rib pulleys & double bearing fixed idler with an ATI Performance Products Super Harmonic Damper®; ARP 2000 head stud kit; GM MLS gaskets; FAST LSX™ polymer Intake Manifold with Siemens Deka Mototron 60# High Impedance injectors and a Bosch 04x series secondary fuel supply system; Ported Throttle Body; Ported MAF with A&A Mass Air Flow Sensor Girdle; Abear Rocker Covers with Coil Pack enclosures; ECS Catch Can; NGK TR-6 spark plugs, GM LS7 Wires and more...

The gauge package includes an A-Pillar replacement bezel with two A-Pillar mounted PLX Devices DM-100 multi-function, full color, remotely controlled, organic displays, which are fed by four PLX Modules: (a) OBD-II, (b) Vac/Boost, (c) Fuel Pressure and (d) AFR. Additionally, the pods contain alcohol pressure status (green/red) and secondary fuel pump system activation (blue) LEDs.

- Further equipped with an Innovate Motorsports LC-1 Wideband 02 Kit (for logging & tuning using EFI Live / V2 FlashScan on an Asus 1000HE Mini Laptop). Also using a TAG Command-Air WSC-2 Weather Station Computer to monitor DA and run predictions.

- Future Modifications:

Lewis 5 (L5) rear flared fenders and splash guards; permitting wider rims & tires underneath: Rims and Tires from CCW with offsets for the Lewis 5 Rear Fenders including: (1) For the drag strip... keeping my M&H Racemaster 4.5/26.0-17 bias skinnies up front (but, with new tires) and a new Drag Strip Rears: CCW Classic Series Modular / polished wheels with 28x14.5x16 Hoosier Quick Time Pros. And, (2) For the street: CCW LM20 rims (Polished, Mirror-Like with CCW Engraved caps): Front: 18x10" CCW LM20 rims with Nitto NT05 265/35ZR18 tires. Rear: 18x13" CCW LM20 rims with Mickey Thompson 345/35R18 ET Street Radial II tires.

For 2010, the goal is to race in both the 9 and 10 second classes. This requires some safety and performance modifications as well as NHRA certification and licensing. Therefore, over winter (2009-2010) upgrades will include an NHRA Certified Full Roll Cage (upgraded from the current 5-point bar), Padding, Window Net and Master Electric Cutoff Switch.

Will start by painting and installing new Lewis 5 flared Rear Fenders and Splash Guards (to widen rear of car) and tub as necessary, as well as removing Z06 Brake ducts to accept max tire width. Fabricate new rear wheel wells to fit the larger 28” diameter bias drag tires.

Next: Mount and Balance new M&H front drag tires / skinnies and install new rim/tire package.

After that: Upgrade the current 5-point roll bar to an 8.50 certified full Roll Cage (requires removal of dash, windshield, etc in order to run front bars to the frame). Update bar by driver's seat to fit better around the seat. Have cage NHRA certified. Roll-cage padding to meet SFI Spec 45.1 anywhere driver’s helmet may come in contact with roll-cage components. Add parachute to rear of car if necessary for qtr mile passes over 150mph. Reinstall dash and windshield. Move the driver's side 5-point harness / straps to the passenger side (as they will expire in 2010) and install new SFI certified belts / harness (Black Simpson Camlock) on the driver's side - good for 2 years. Install a SFI Spec 27.1 mesh-type window net (black) as required by NHRA, securely mounted on the inside of the roll cage, with the permanent attachment at the bottom. And, install a Master Electric Switch: PCM / Fuel System shutdown with the type that takes a key.

Replace the current RPM Level 6 modified 4l60 transmission & Yank Pro 3800 Torque Converter with a new ECS Customer Powerglide transmission (click for photo) plus higher stall torque converter: Include all adapter plates, tail housing and trans/rear end brace. NOTE: Will include the install of a shifter and boot that retains a "stock appearance." Retain 3:73 rear and install an ECS “Torque Tamer” to eliminate driveshaft flex. Note: The change of transmission will reduce street use (mostly local driving only). It also requires the use of a shift light in order to consistently change gears on the strip. A Pro tree transbrake as well as a reverse lock out (requires two hands to put the car into reverse) will be installed. The ECS Powerglide transmission is comprised of a Reid case and custom internals assembled to accept the custom shafts manufactured to work with the C5 ear end. The Kit comes with the trans, adapter plates, tail housing and trans/rear end brace. Will re-use current B&M Trans Cooler.

Install the following tachometer and shift light: GTech Pro EGS Expandable Tach with Shift Light (See: http://www.gtechpro.com/egs.html).

Remove the aftermarket stereo system to reduce weight and reinstall stock stereo: Includes removal/replacement of Head Unit, XM Radio & XM antenna, Wiring adapter, ipod, & USB adapter cables in glove box and hands free microphone. Remove Amp, JL Stealth Box Subwoofer and aftermarket wiring; replace with the stock stereo system.

Install a removable parachute system to allow qtr. mile passes over 150 mph.

Re-Tune PCM & 2-Step for use with the Powerglide Transmission / Converter. Tune Coil-Over Suspension for use with new rim/tire setup; change oil, drain catch can and prep for spring 2010 shakedown (check belts and other fluids, wires, etc.); remove windshield sticker and replace with new style East Coast Supercharging sticker in dark purple / metallic outline.

Of course, this also requires me to buy a long list of safety gear such as new SFI pants and jacket; SFI rated shoes; SFI Spec Neck Collar; SFI Spec Gloves, etc., etc., etc...

And, some stuff that I have removed...

Static cling front turn signal black out kit - They flew off while driving
Static cling reverse light black out kit - They did not adhere properly
Static cling 3rd Brake Light black out - It bubbled on the surface
6000K HID Low Beam Bulbs and Ballasts - They blinded oncoming traffic and eventually turned pink
Bassini X-pipe - Was replaced by American Racing Long Tubes
Stainless steel Intake Plenum Cover - Doesn't fit with FAST Intake Manifold installed
Rubber tail light seals & tail light louvers (upgraded rear lights to Black Cherry LED Halos)
Baer DecelaRotors - Replaced with Girodisc rotors (see Braking section)

Of course, I have removed loads of stock / OEM parts to make way for my "mod-madness" :-)
